Letters-From-Hollywood.jpg

Hollywood is delivering messages of thanks and support to our men and women in uniform through Letters from Hollywood, a new website launched by the U.S. Army Installation Management Command July 30. It is a community outreach initiative that shows Hollywood's gratitude for the sacrifices made on behalf of our Nation. Actor D.B. Sweeney is a driving force behind the site, which features greetings and good wishes from a cross section of the entertainment industry, including actors, producers, directors and singer/songwriters. Sweeney, whose films include "The Cutting Edge" and "Two Tickets to Paradise," spearheads the collection of messages, making sure they reach the servicemembers they are intended for.

Guest Actor Kevin Sorbo joins David Gibbons on "In Discussion" on May 28, 2010. Television and Radio Worldwide Streaming at World Talk Radio & Television. Kevin Sorbo has enjoyed success on television for over 20 consecutive years, a feat rarely accomplished by an actor. Sorbo quickly rose to stardom in the title role of the hit series, “Hercules, the Legendary Journeys”. The immense popularity of the 5 initial 2-hour telefilms in 1993 resulted in the launch of a weekly series by 1994. The series not only became a breakout hit by becoming the number one first-run program in syndication, it also passed “Baywatch” as the most watched TV show in the world. The innovative action hour revitalized the entire action/adventure genre on television and fostered two spin-off series, “Xena, Warrior Princess”, and “Young Hercules”. Sorbo also directed two episodes of the show, and co-wrote one installment. Following the success of “Hercules”, Sorbo went on to star in the lead role of “Captain Dylan Hunt” in “Gene Roddenberry’s, Andromeda”. The series, based upon writings from the late “Star Trek” creator’s archives, debuted as the number one hour show in first run syndication and held that spot throughout it’s five year run from 2000-2005.

The New eLetter's from America follows in the footsteps of Alistair Cooke's journey across the United States, between the post-war years to his passing in 2004. His original "Letter's from America" began in 1946 and were enormously successful for the BBC. The series finally came to an end 58 years (2,869 installments) later, in March 2004. Cooke was 95 years old and reluctantly retired on advice from doctors. He died shortly after having left a legacy of American history during a period of change and volatility. As a boy and into adulthood Gibbons was enchanted by the regular sunday morning radio program broadcast on BBC's radio four. His father rarely missed the program's that he had followed himself from their inception in 1946.
